Receive voicemail notifications via text message

There is an increasing need for notification of voicemail via different channels. With that in mind this article addresses how to set up notification via text messaging.

Rules

  • Emails to known hosts shown below will not use normal email templates and send plain text emails that are better suited for SMS. 
  • If voicemail transcription is enabled the text message will also include the first 200 characters of the transcribed message. 

Procedure

  1. In the Manager Portal navigate to the Profile tab of the user to which you wish to add notifications. 
  2. In the Change Account Security section select the green plus and add in the phone number at which you wish to receive text notification followed by the gateway for your mobile device as below.
  3. The format should be <10 digit phone number>@<SMS email gateway>.  Accepted SMS email gateways are:

  • tmomail.net
  • vtext.com
  • message.alltel.com

  • csouth1.com
  • cwemail.com
